How To Use Natural Stone In Your Landscape

Natural stone can add a lot to your landscaping when it is used in a way that adds to, or enhances, features of the landscaping. Natural stone can also be used as a part of the home's exterior or as a functioning element on the porch or patio. You can learn some of the creative ways that natural stone can be used around the exterior of your home and/or added to the landscape by reviewing this information:

Natural stone exterior

You can have an area of your home's exterior siding be made of natural stone. While this type of siding may give the appearance that the entire portion of the exterior wall is made of stacked stones, this will be an illusion because entire stones would be too heavy and bulky. The natural stones will be cut so they look like whole stones, but they are really only as deep as they need to be in order to get attached in place.

Stone flower pots

If you want to have some flower pots around the yard, the patio, and/or the porch, then you may want them to be made of natural stone. By displaying your flowers in stone pots, you will be able to keep an all-natural look and feel throughout the yard while offering your flowers an appropriate home to remain safe and flourish. You can also use larger pots for small trees.

Stone walkways

Whether you have dirt, brick, or cement walkways in your yard, you may want to replace those walkways with ones that add to the fantastic look of your yard, rather than taking from it. You can have the walkways replaced with natural flat stones. By using the flat stones, you are still going to have functional walkways for your family and guests to use to get from one area to another, but they will look nicer and blend with all of the other natural elements of the yard.

Natural stone walls

If you currently have a brick wall around the perimeter of your yard, or if you have another type of wall or fence, then you might want to have it replaced with a natural stone wall. You can have stones used that have been precut into bricks. Instead of the traditional red bricks, you will now have a gorgeous wall that shows the elements inside of the stones, while retaining that solid and durable wall you need for privacy and security issues.
